December 14th, 2007: The fundraising is now over and the 2007-2008 CM2C Class of the Lycee Francais de New York raised a stunning $ 2,509.89!!
Their objective was to raise $ 1,000.00 (see below) but they did such a great work that they ended up with much more than that! The money has been sent to the "Children of Peru Foundation" who will use it to build the Huaycan school.

November 2007: Mylene Ardid is the teacher for the CM2C class (5th Grade) of Lycee Francais de New York (LFNY) for the year 2007-2008. Every year she motivates her young students to raise funds for a charity. The Children of Peru Foundation is very proud to have been selected for this year's effort!
We offered several projects to Mylene and her students. They chose to raise funds for our current campaign to help out a school in Huaycan, a very poor neighborhood near the capital city of Peru, Lima.

The class fundraising goal is $ 1,000.00

The "Institucion Educativa Gustavo Mohme" is a primary and secondary school in Huaycan, the poor neighborhood where our partner SamusocialPeru is very active doing important social work. SamusocialPeru recently started to see what was needed in the schools of the area. A bit more than 700 kids are going to the "Gustavo Mohme" school daily. The mornings are for the primary school (6 to 11 years old) and the afternoons for the secondary school (11 to 17 years old).

The school is in a very bad shape and needs some serious repairs. We are planning to construct a new building with 3 brand new classes. The grant will also be used to buy some needed furniture like desks for the students.

Nov. 19th, 2007: They did it!! New amount raised is $ 1,350.00 !!
Dec.  1rst, 2007:  More $ raised & new amount is now a stunning $ 2,400.00 !!!

The fundraising is now over and the money has been donated to the "Children of Peru Foundation".
