My fundraising goal: $2,500
While I was born in New York City, I have a deep affinity for
Peru. My mother was born in Callao, west of Lima, Peru's
capital. When I was little, we would travel to Peru to
visit my grandparents and other relatives. I remember so
many wonderful childhood trips, filled with visits to La
Punta, having warm milk with Milo every morning, going
to the beach, reading Condorito comic books, eating
alfajores and drinking Inca Kola, walking around
Miraflores, having a family outing and lunch at El
Rancho, visiting the artesanias, enjoying D'Onofrio
candy (Sublime and Fruna, in particular), touring the
Museo del Oro, visiting Arequipa and especially
exploring Machu Picchu twice.

My childhood memories of Peru are filled with joy and laughter.
Every child deserves a wonderful childhood, and should have access
to quality healthcare and education. It is for this reason that I've
become involved with the Children of Peru Foundation, which raises
funds to provide these essentials to children in Peru.
I am running (ok... maybe some walking) the NYC Half Marathon on
March 21 to raise funds for the Children of Peru Foundation's important
mission. Back (way back) in the day, I used to be an avid
recreational runner, having completed the NY Marathon '99 and the
Paris Marathon '01, along with a number of half marathons and
countless 5k races (I have all of the t-shirts to prove it!). Flash
forward almost 10 years, and running has fallen by the wayside.
So,
I've decided to start this new decade with a commitment to complete
the NYC Half Marathon, and get back into the fun spirit of
recreational running. But best of all, I am running it on behalf of
the Children of Peru Foundation.
Please join me in supporting this cause (we cannot
rely on celebrity-studded telethons), and make a pledge today. No
contribution is too small! Your individual contributions can
collectively have a big impact on the deserving children in Peru.
