Manos Unidas:
Manos Unidas is
a Peruvian Non-Profit Organization founded in 2008 in Cusco, Peru.
Manos Unidas created and operates the first private school
for special education in Cusco: Camino Nuevo. Manos Unidas
provides quality education and teacher training programs for
children and young adults with developmental disabilities, down
syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy.
Manos Unidas's mission is to provide inclusive education and
work opportunities for all persons with special needs in the Andean
region through its student scholarship program.
The Children of Peru Foundation is proud to have
started in 2011 a brand new partnership with Manos Unidas.
We met with Celeste Marion several times, in Peru and in New York
last year, and we had the opportunity to visit the school Camino
Nuevo several times. There is no doubt that Manos Unidas work
is needed and that it is of first quality.
We started our support in 2011 with a $5,000 grant that will be used for
needed scholarships.
We have also offered a $2,500 grant to be used as matching funds.
We renewed our support in 2012 with a $10,000 grant coming as
matching funds.
